Districts Affected: Lower Yukon AreaDistrict 2 Commercial Fishing:Commercial fishing will be open for one period in District 2, from 3 p.m. until 9 p.m. Friday, August 31. This will be a 6-hour commercial fishing period with gillnets restricted to 6-inch or smaller mesh size. Commercial fishermen need to confirm their buyer prior to fishing. A reminder to fishermen that the Andreafsky River is closed to commercial fishing.

Districts Affected: Lower Yukon AreaDistrict 2 Commercial Fishing:The previously announced commercial period in District 2 on Thursday, August 30 is being extended by 2 hours and will now end at 10:00 p.m. This will be a 6-hour commercial fishing period with gillnets restricted to 6-inch or smaller mesh size. Both buyers are operating during this period. A reminder to fishermen that the Andreafsky River is closed to commercial fishing.

2018 Yukon River Fall Salmon Fishery News Release 45 - Fall Update # 6, Yukon Area Salmon Fishery

Districts Affected: Yukon AreaThe 2018 fall chum salmon inseason total run size projection is currently above 900,000 fish. The estimated fall chum salmon run size as of August 26 (based on passage at the mainstem sonar near Pilot Station plus the harvest downstream of the sonar) is 850,000 fish, which is above the historical median of 681,000 fish for that date. The average three-quarter point of the fall chum salmon run is August 20 at Pilot Station.

Federal Subsistence Fisheries for Kenai River Sockeye Salmon Reopened

The Federal In-season Manager for the Cook Inlet Area is rescinding Emergency Special Action Number 10-RS-02-18, effective 12:01 a.m., Tuesday, August 28. This Emergency Special Action voids the previous Emergency Special Action issued on August 7, 2018 and opens Federal public waters in the Kenai River drainage downstream from the outlet of Skilak Lake to subsistence fishing for Sockeye Salmon.
