Federal subsistence fishery for Eulachon closed in Federal waters within District 1

KETCHIKAN, Alaska – Ketchikan-Misty Fjords District Ranger Susan A. Howle, under authority delegated by the Federal Subsistence Board, is closing the Federal public waters that flow into District 1 to the taking of Eulachon from 12:01 a.m. on February 25, 2019, until 11:59 p.m. on April 25, 2019, due to anticipated low eulachon returns.  Any Eulachon caught in this area must be immediately returned into the water unharmed.  The Alaska Department of Fish and Game (ADF&G) will also be closing State managed subsistence and personal use fisheries for Eulachon in District 1.

Egan Civic and Convention Center in Anchorage to consider proposed changes to Federal subsistence fish and shellfish regulations for the 2019-2021 regulatory years, proposed changes to customary and traditional use determinations, and other subsistence issues.

Call for Proposals to Change Federal Subsistence Hunting and Trapping Regulations

01/31/2019

The Federal Subsistence Board (Board) is accepting proposals through March 27, 2019 to change Federal regulations for the subsistence harvest of wildlife on Federal public lands for the July 1, 2020–June 30, 2022 regulatory years. The Board will consider proposals to change Federal subsistence hunting and trapping seasons, harvest limits, methods of harvest, and customary and traditional use determinations.
