Public hearing announced for Wildlife Temporary Special Action Request WSA19-06 for caribou in Units 20E, 25C, and a portion of 20F

A public hearing is scheduled for 5:00–8:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 13, 2019, at Pike's Waterfront Lodge, Fireweed Room (2nd Floor), 1850 Hoselton Rd, in Fairbanks, to receive public testimony on a Temporary Special Action request received by the Federal Subsistence Board (Board).

Temporary Special Action request WSA19-06, submitted by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM), Eastern Interior Field Office, requests that the Board change the harvest limit for caribou in Units 20E, 20F, and 25C to up to two caribou, change the winter season to October 21–March 31, and provide delegated authority to the Federal manager to set sex restrictions in all three units. The proponent also requests additional delegated authority to modify harvest limits and season dates in Unit 20F.  The Federal manager currently has this authority in Units 20E and 25C.

At this meeting, the public will have an opportunity to provide testimony to representatives of the Federal Subsistence Management Program. The public is welcome and encouraged to attend this meeting in person or by calling the telephone number provided below. When prompted, enter the passcode. Comments will be forwarded to the Board for consideration on this Temporary Special Action request.
