Regulations for subsistence take of fish published in Federal Register

On April 6, 2021, the Federal Subsistence Board (Board) published the final rule for the Subsistence Management Regulations for the 2021-22 and 2022-23 Subsistence Taking of Fish in the Federal Register (86 FR 17713). This final rule establishes regulations for seasons, harvest limits, and methods and means related to the taking of fish for subsistence uses in Alaska for 2021–22 and 2022–23 regulatory years.

Subsistence Drawing Hunt Application Period Open for Units 7 & 15

The Seward District Ranger of the Chugach National Forest and the Kenai National Wildlife Refuge Manager, under authority of the Federal Subsistence Board announce the open application period for Federal Subsistence Drawing Hunts on Federal Lands on the Kenai Peninsula in Units 7 and 15. You must be a Federally qualified resident from the authorized community established for each hunt to apply. The application deadline is Friday April 2, 2021 at 4:30 pm. No applications will be accepted after that time. Drawings for each hunt will be conducted and winners will be contacted beginning April 7, 2021.

Call for Proposals to Change Federal Subsistence Hunting and Trapping Regulations

The Federal Subsistence Board (Board) is accepting proposals through May 24, 2021 to change Federal regulations for the subsistence harvest of wildlife on Federal public lands for the July 1, 2022–June 30, 2024 regulatory years. The Board will consider proposals to change Federal subsistence hunting and trapping seasons, harvest limits, methods of harvest, and customary and traditional use determinations.
