Washington, D.C. – The U.S. Department of the Interior's (DOI) Office of Insular Affairs awarded a $76,000 grant to the Government of Guam's Office of Public Accountability (OPA) to fund auditor and investigator staff training.  The grant will enhance the OPA's ability to produce quality and timely audit and investigative reports. Guam auditors and investigators will participate in training programs administered by DOI's Office of the Inspector General.

"My office is pleased to be supporting this initiative that goes a long way in improving the quality of OPA's audit and investigative services. Funding for this program strengthens the relationship between the local and federal government elevating accountability standards and investigator capabilities," said Assistant Secretary for Insular Areas Tony Babauta.

"Training programs of this caliber develop our institutional capacity and ensure a more effective and efficient administration of public funds," added Assistant Secretary Babauta.
