Dr. Noreen Michael, Chief of Staff and Ms. Velma Abramsen, Executive Assistant to the UVI President visited Acting Deputy Assistant Secretary Nik Pula and staff at OIA to deliver a resolution adopted by the University of the Virgin Islands Board of Trustees.  The resolution acknowledges and thanks the Department of the Interior for its support and partnership in developing the University’s Wellness Center.  The Department of the Interior, through OIA, has given $1 million in grants toward construction of the new facility.

The Wellness Center will be a 6,000 square foot building constructed along the southwest side of the existing UVI Sports and Fitness Center. The building will include a state-of-the-art dance studio and aerobics area with wooden floor, a cardiovascular equipment area, a weight room and locker-rooms. The first-class facility will provide a place for students, faculty, staff and alumni to work out. The project is estimated to cost $2.1 million.
