Jan. 30, 2024 – Update on the Compacts of Free Association

Deputy Assistant Secretary Nakoa and a team from Interior led a discussion on the status of the Compacts of Free Association and the next steps beyond the signed agreements pending before the U.S. Congress (H.J.Res.96).

UPDATE: On March 9, 2024, H.R. 4366 or the 2024 Consolidated Appropriations Act which included the Compact of Free Association Amendments Act of 2024 was signed by President Biden and became Public Law 118-42. Full text here.
