2017 Drinking Water Quality Testing Results

The Office of Facilities and Administrative Services is pleased to present your 2017 drinking water quality testing results for the MIB.  On June 15, 2017, and July 6, 2017, an independent laboratory, sampled potable water sources to perform testing for lead, copper, total chlorine, and total coliforms.  Test results from all water samples were negative or well below the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) limits for drinking water quality and therefore no system adjustments are necessary.  Additional testing of the drinking water system for the MIB will continue annually.

The Branch of Building Operations is responsible for the day-to-day operation, maintenance, and care of the MIB. The standard services that are provided to occupants include:

  • Daily operation of the heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning (HVAC) systems from 7:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. on each government workday.
  • Repair and maintenance of the building equipment and component systems
  • Pest management
  • Building accessibility
  • Landscaping
  • Recycling program
  • Custodial services
  • Historic preservation

The costs for these services are included in the rent payments made by each occupant organization. With the exception of the recycling program which was a Department initiative that started in the Interior Complex in 1988, the Branch of Building Operations is responsible for providing the above services as outlined in the Delegation of Authority Agreement between the U.S. Department of the Interior and the General Services Administration.

Building Maintenance and Repairs

Your comfort is important to us. We know you cannot do your best work if you are distracted by environmental conditions in your office. Our policy is to maintain office temperatures between 72° - 74° Fahrenheit. If the conditions in your office are outside these parameters, contact the Office of Facilities and Administrative Services (OFAS) service desk on 208-2222 that we may make any needed repairs or adjustments. Our goal is to respond to each request within one business day.

Custodial Services

The Branch of Building Operations is responsible for providing a full range of custodial services for the occupants of the MIB. The cost for this service is included in the rent paid by your bureau or office.
