The Indian Arts and Crafts Board (IACB) posts Indian (American Indian, Alaska Native, and Native American) art and craft marketing events on its website to promote authentic Indian products and as a service for potential consumers.
In order to obtain this IACB listing, the market’s vendor eligibility requirements should include compliance with the Indian Arts and Crafts Act (Act), or similar language requiring vendor compliance with applicable federal laws.
The Act is essentially a truth-in-marketing law designed to prevent the marketing of art and craftwork as “Indian” made or as the product of a particular Indian tribe when it is not, in fact, made by an Indian as defined by the Act. Information about the Act is available at www.doi.gov/iacb/act.
