Southeast Region

The Southeast Regional Offices are directed by a Regional Solicitor and are responsible for legal matters for all Department bureaus in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands; legal matters in Connecticut, Delaware, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, and West Virginia for the Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA); legal matters in Iowa, Illinois, Kansas, Oklahoma, and Texas for Office of Surface Mining Reclamation and Enforcement (OSMRE); legal matters in Arkansas for BIA, Fish and Wildlife Service, OSMRE, and the US Geological Survey (USGS); legal matters in Indiana for BIA and OSMRE; legal matters in Missouri for OSMRE and USGS; and legal matters in Virginia for BIA, the Bureau of Land Management, and OSMRE. 

The Office of the Solicitor's Southeast Region has a regional office in Atlanta, Georgia, led by Regional Solicitor Shannon Goessling, and a field office in Knoxville, Tennessee, led by Acting Field Solicitor Annette Tarnawsky.
