Disasters and invasive species

Natural hazards like hurricanes and floods, as well as disaster response and recovery operations, can introduce and spread invasive species. In the United States, the costs of damage from invasive species are rising faster than the costs of all other natural hazards combined.

The National Invasive Species Council is working with emergency management and invasive species experts from across the Federal Government to reduce the threats of invasive species in disasters, with a focus on developing and providing relevant information for emergency management and invasive species personnel.
