Example protocols to reduce invasive species risks in a disaster

These protocols were developed by a National Invasive Species Council (NISC) team to reduce risks from invasive species during typhoons affecting the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands (CNMI) in 2026. They were approved by CNMI representatives and FEMA, and FEMA subsequently required their implementation. The protocols include best management practices for general risks as well as specific species. This NISC white paper has more information on developing such protocols.
