Below you will find additional information on presentations of this year’s Safety, Health, and Environmental Fair, brought to you by OSMRE and OFAS.  All events are in the rooms adjacent to the Bison Bistro or in the Bison Bistro corridor, except for the fitness classes, which will be held in the South Penthouse, and HIV screening tests, which will be in the Wellness Center.  Be sure to enjoy the first barbecue of the summer, on Wednesday, June 7, 2017in the Bison Bistro Cafeteria.

 

All of the offerings during the six day fair are arranged by type of event in the tables below with additional information on the event and presenter.

Cory Bryant - Yoga Instructor:  Cory started teaching at Flow Yoga Center in Washington, DC on his first day back from Jivamukti Teacher Training in 2008 and hasn’t stopped since.  Over the course of these years his commitment to practice and teaching has continually deepened, and in December 2015 he resigned from an international food policy position at the U.S. Food & Drug Administration to pursue yoga study, practice, and teaching full time.  Wear comfortable clothes

Demonstration on having an on-line trainer for all fitness levels!  Gary Siegal – CyberFit (Virtual Fitness Instructor): Gary began this crusade as a young man who as a child himself battled with weight loss issues through high school.  He currently speaks and works with Pre and Post Gastric Bypass recipients, as well as patients who are recovering from strokes.  He has been a personal fitness trainer to adults and children for over 20 years.  He is certified through ACE and continues his education on a monthly basis.  Gary is affiliated with several physicians in the area.  Endocrinologists, Nutritionists and Vascular Surgeons, who regularly refer patients to him.  He is passionate about helping them with their battle with Diabetes, Hypertension and Heart Disease, as well as those who are recovering from various types of surgery.

Your Desk Can Help you or Hurt You” Presentation by Sacha Burn, Human Scale Ergonomics, the leader in workstations. Sacha has worked as a Healthcare Ergonomist with Human scale since 2010, assisting organizations with implementing ergonomics programs to reduce workplace injury and focusing on research surrounding optimizing caregiver workflow with the integration of EMR.  She holds a Master of Science in Ergonomics and Biomechanics from New York University.  Prior to this she earned a Bachelor of Science in Human Factors and Ergonomics from Cornell University.  Sacha has extensive experience in the areas of ergonomic program development and workplace design, evaluation, and training, as well as experience in product design and holds a patent for her role in the design of an ergonomic computer workstation on wheels.  Sacha is accredited by the Board of Certified Professional Ergonomics and the Center for Health Design.
