For Interagency Partners

The U.S. Wildland Fire Service collaborates with a wide range of partners—from local fire departments to other countries—to advance wildland fire management.

A large house with two trucks parked outside is seen from above. A handful of other, smaller homes are scattered through the surrounding forested area, connected by narrow, winding roads. White smoke rises in a wedge formation from the trees to the right of the homes, obscuring the forest from view. To the left, the forested hillside descends toward a grassy plain, with more forested mountains visible in the distance.

Interagency collaboration is the cornerstone of effective wildfire response and long-term resilience. By working collaboratively across jurisdictions, we are better able to safeguard communities, protect recreational spaces, preserve our natural resources, and support rural economies that depend on healthy landscapes.

We maintain agreements with federal, state, local, and international firefighting organizations to facilitate rapid, coordinated wildfire response.

The U.S. Wildland Fire Service also provides funding, equipment, and training to increase the capacity of local firefighting agencies to respond to wildfires.

This interagency collaboration forms the foundation of our approach to keep people, communities, and landscapes safe from wildfires.
