Land Buy-Back Program for Tribal Nations

The Land Buy-Back Program for Tribal Nations (Buy-Back Program or the Program) implements the land consolidation component of the Cobell v Salazar Settlement Agreement which provided a $1.9 billion Trust Land Consolidation Fund (Fund) to purchase fractional interests in trust or restricted land from willing sellers at fair market value. As of September 15, 2021, nearly $101 million remains, comprised of more than $44 million in the land purchase portion of the Fund and more than $57 million in the implementation portion of the Fund. Consolidated interests are immediately restored to Tribal trust ownership for uses benefiting the reservation community and Tribal members. Please see Frequently Asked Questions for the most up-to-date information about the Program.
