About the Office of Civil Rights

The Office of Civil Rights (OCR) is responsible for managing the Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) program. OCR enforces civil rights and equal opportunity programs pursuant to existing laws, executive orders and regulations and works to ensure equal opportunity for all Departmental employees, job applicants, and federally assisted programs by the Department.

Throughout its programs, OCR manages the EEO process, including informal and formal complaints, EEO investigations, public civil rights complaints, and civil rights research, data analysis, and reporting.

“The Department of the Interior (Department or DOI) remains committed to preventing unlawful discrimination, harassment and retaliation, and promoting merit based equal employment opportunities in all areas of employment.”  We invite you to learn more about the Department’s committed to EEO by reviewing the 2026 EEO Policy Statement.

For all questions or inquiries about civil rights, and the EEO process, please contact the OCR team.
