The FM1107 winter moose hunt in Unit 11 is open Friday, November 20, 2026, through Wednesday, January 20, 2027. The harvest quota is five bull moose with an individual harvest limit of one bull by Federal registration permit FM1107. The season will close early if the quota is met.

Successful hunters must return harvest reports within three days after harvesting an animal by calling (907) 822-7284. Written harvest reports must be returned within 15 days of the close of the season.

The hunt area encompasses the portion of Unit 11 south and east of a line running along the north bank of the Chitina River, the north and west banks of the Nizina River, and the west bank of the West Fork of the Nizina River, continuing along the western edge of West Fork Glacier to the summit of Regal Mountain. Permits and accompanying map are available at the Wrangell-St. Elias National Park and Preserve’s (WRST) headquarters in Copper Center and by contacting wrst_subsistence@nps.gov.

Depending on sufficient snow coverage, there may be an aerial moose survey conducted before December 10 in a portion of the hunt area.

The WRST Acting Superintendent is issuing this special action under authority delegated by the Federal Subsistence Board. For additional information, contact WRST Acting Superintendent Joshua Scott at (907) 822-5234 or joshua_scott@nps.gov, or Team Lead for Resource, Stewardship, and Science Benjamin Pister at (907) 822-5234 or benjamin_pister@nps.gov.
