Today Deb Haaland began her tenure as the 54th Secretary of the Interior. Secretary Haaland hit the ground running, holding a virtual all-staff forum attended by more than 15,000 agency employees where she delivered remarks and highlighted the work of team members in each of the bureaus and offices.

Deb Haaland will take the oath of office to become the 54th Secretary of the Department of the Interior later today in a small ceremony with family. 

The Department of the Interior today applauded the passage of the American Rescue Plan (ARP), a bold legislative package that will help address the public health and economic crises that continue to impact the American people. The ARP contains several provisions that fund Interior initiatives and benefit the communities we directly serve, including Tribal governments and schools.
