Recent Updates

  • Department of the Interior law enforcement quick response teams have been given the order to stand down.
  • The U.S. Geological Surey is monitoring storm-tide sensors along the gulf coast and inland streams for Hurricane Nate impacts.
  • The Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforement reports offshore oil and gas operators in the Gulf of Mexico are beginning to re-board platforms and rigs following Tropical Storm Nate. No damage has been reported.
  • The National Park Service reports that Jean Lafitte National Historical Park and Preserve, New Orleans Jazz National Historical Park, and Gulf Islands National Seashore remain closed. All NPS employees in coastal parks have been accounted for.
