FEMA requires personnel working at a Joint Field Officer, Regional Response Center, and National Response Center to have the following training:
- IS 100 (Introduction to Incident Command)
- IS 200 (ICS for Single Resources and Initial Action Incidents)
- IS 700 (National Incident Management System, An Introduction)
- IS 800 (National Response Framework, An Introduction)
- IS 811 (Emergency Support Functions (ESF) #11 - Agriculture and Natural Resources Annex)
Personnel assisting or serving as FEMA Environmental/Historic Preservation specialists should also have the following training:
- IS 253 (Coordinating Environmental and Historic Preservation Compliance)
FEMA requires personnel working at the National Response Coordination Center to have the following training:
- Desk Officer Training (Offered through USDA APHIS)
- Homeland Security Information Network Training
Optional Training:
- IS 300 & IS 400 (Classroom led courses)
- Mission Assignment for Managers
- Wildland Fire

During a response, the incident command may require additional training.
