Artificial Intelligence (AI) Use Case Inventory

By tracking current and planned Artificial Intelligence (AI) use cases—and sharing them through the Department of the Interior’s AI Use Case Inventory—the Department can identify and prioritize deployments that enhance mission delivery, while encouraging the development of new ideas for testing. In addition to promoting innovation, the Department works internally and with the federal government, as well as academic, nonprofit, and private sector organizations, to adapt use cases that support its mission. This inventory includes both individual AI use cases and a consolidated AI use case inventory, providing a comprehensive view of the Department’s AI activities to meet transparency and accountability requirements. The Department does not currently have any high-impact AI use cases, as defined in OMB Memorandum M-25-21.
