  • Interior to Launch U.S. Wildland Fire Service

    The Department of the Interior today announced it is taking the next step to establish the U.S. Wildland Fire Service. Interior appointed a new leader to oversee the implementation of the new service with the vision of unifying the wildland fire management programs across the Department’s bureaus and offices. 

Our Mission

The U.S. Department of the Interior protects and manages the Nation’s natural resources and cultural heritage; provides scientific and other information about those resources; and honors its trust responsibilities or special commitments to American Indians, Alaska Natives, Native Hawaiians, and affiliated Island Communities.
