Southeast Alaska Subsistence Regional Advisory Council to Meet in Ketchikan at the Ted Ferry Civic Center

The Southeast Alaska Subsistence Regional Advisory Council will meet October 22-24, 2024, in Ketchikan at the Ted Ferry Civic Center at 888 Venetia Way. The meeting will begin at 8:30 a.m. daily.


The Council will develop recommendations on proposals to change Federal subsistence fish and shellfish regulations and discuss other issues related to subsistence in the Southeast Alaska Region.

    Federal Subsistence Regulations Updated to Reflect Office Transfer

    The Office of Subsistence Management announced a change today in how federal subsistence regulations are organized. The rules have been moved from one part of the federal code (50 CFR part 100) to a new location (43 CFR part 51) to reflect an administrative change in the federal government.

    Federal Subsistence Regulations Published in the Federal Register

    The Office of Subsistence Management published a final rule codifying the Federal subsistence regulation amendments made by the Federal Subsistence Board (Board) in February 2025 (90 FR 34152). The rule primarily amends Federal regulations for the take of fish and shellfish for the 2025-2027 regulatory period. This rule also removes the Ketchikan Area from the list of nonrural areas, updates the regulations for the subsistence taking of caribou in Units 11, 12 and 13, and corrects an error from a recent final rule regarding the take of wolf and wolverine in Unit 17.
