Alaska Department of Fish and Game to Take Over Salmon Fisheries Management

The Alaska Department of Fish and Game will take over management of the salmon subsistence fisheries on Federal public waters of the Kuskokwim River. This shift in regulatory authority is being made as the salmon fisheries transition from Chinook to chum and sockeye salmon in the Kuskokwim River. The subsistence salmon fishery will be managed by the State of Alaska through their Emergency Orders. All previously issued Special Actions are now rescinded. This action follows the conservation strategy discussed with the Alaska Department of Fish and Game and the Kuskokwim River Inter-tribal Fish Commission.
