District 2 Commercial Fishing:

Commercial fishing will be open for one period in District 2, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Saturday, August 11. This will be a 4-hour commercial fishing period with gillnets restricted to 6-inch or smaller mesh size. The sale of Chinook salmon is prohibited. Chinook salmon retained from commercial gillnet gear must be recorded on a fish ticket as retained but not sold. It is important commercial fishermen confirm their buyer prior to fishing as all the registered buyers in District 2 may be operating.

District 2 Subsistence Salmon Fishing Schedule:

Subsistence salmon fishing in District 2 is open during the fall season 7 days per week, 24 hours per day with gillnets restricted to a maximum mesh size of 7.5 inches, except for closures before, during and after commercial fishing periods. Because of the short notice for this opening, Subsistence salmon fishing will close at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, August 11, and reopen at 8:00 a.m. Sunday, August 12. Fishermen may use 4-inch or smaller mesh size gillnets to target non-salmon species during subsistence salmon closures.

Preliminary reports from the District 2 commercial opening on August 10 indicate a harvest of 8,036 fall chum salmon from 78 permit holders. The preliminary cumulative commercial harvest for District 2 through August 8 is 38,894 fall chum salmon.
