2017 Yukon River Summer Salmon Fishery News Release # 6 - District 1 Commercial Fishing Schedule

District 1 (including Black River) Commercial:

Effective 3 p.m. Saturday, June 10, commercial fishing will be open for one 12-hour period with dip nets and beach seines:

• 3 p.m. Saturday, June 10, to 3 a.m. Sunday, June 11

All Chinook salmon caught in dip net and beach seine gear must be released alive immediately and recorded on your fish ticket.

Subsistence fishing is closed during commercial openings.

District 1 (including Black River and North Coastal District) Subsistence:

Subsistence fishing is on the regulatory schedule of two 36-hour periods per week, from 8.p.m. Mondays until 8 a.m. Wednesdays and from 8 p.m. Thursdays until 8 a.m. Saturdays with 6-inch or smaller mesh gillnets. Fishermen should expect changes to the subsistence schedule and prepare for subsistence fishing openings with dip nets and beach seines.  Before the next open subsistence fishing period, call the Emmonak office or (866) 479-7387 to verify the fishing schedule.

General Reminders:

Dip net mesh size is restricted to 4.5-inch or smaller.

Beach seines must be set from the beach and hauled to the beach. Beach seine gear may not exceed 150 fathoms in length, 100 meshes in depth, and 4-inches stretched measure. Beach seines may not be constructed of monofilament webbing.

All Chinook salmon must be released alive from dip nets and beach seines.
