Secretary Jewell to Deliver Remarks at Flight 93 Memorial Visitor Center Dedication

SHANKSVILLE, Pa.  – On Thursday, September 10, U.S. Secretary of the Interior Sally Jewell will give remarks at the opening of the new Flight 93 National Memorial Visitor Center, honoring the 40 passengers and crew of United Flight 93 on the 14th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks. National Park Service Director Jonathan Jarvis, Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf and others will also join the ceremony.

On September 24, 2002, Congress passed the Flight 93 National Memorial Act, which created a new national park unit to commemorate the 40 passengers and crew of Flight 93 who courageously gave their lives thwarting a planned attack on our nation’s capital. The memorial is located outside Shanksville, Pa. and also includes a wall of names and memorial groves.
