For the July 4 holiday, ABC News Radio presented “Cherished America,” a three-hour program that celebrated the nation through the places it has preserved.

Aaron Katersky interviewed Secretary of the Interior David Bernhardt, discussing our national monuments, national parks and locations designated on the National Register of Historic Places. They talked about why each place is important to the country and how it has helped shape and define it. Listen to their interview below.

    Department of the Interior Reopens Restored Tidal Basin Seawall

    The Department of the Interior today announced the completion and reopening of the rehabilitated Tidal Basin and Potomac River seawalls, marking a significant infrastructure milestone supported by President Donald J. Trump’s Great American Outdoors Act. Following a ribbon‑cutting ceremony led by Secretary of the Interior Doug Burgum, the newly restored area is now open for public access.
