Secretary Salazar to Address Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute's 34th Annual Awards Gala, Receive Prestigious Chair's Award

WASHINGTON, D.C.—On Wednesday, September 14, Secretary of the Interior Ken Salazar will attend the 2011 Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute's (CHCI) 34th Annual Awards Gala where he and Labor Secretary Hilda Solis will receive the Chair's Award honoring their careers in public service and their lifelong dedication to improving the lives of all Americans. Prior to the award presentation, President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama will help kick-off the night of entertainment, recognition, and celebration.

Echoing the gala's 2011 theme, “Keeping the Promise: Unity. Strength. Leadership,” the Secretary will discuss how the history and contributions of Hispanic Americans should be recognized, preserved and interpreted as a source of pride for young Hispanic leaders.
