The Department of the Interior's Multicultural Day 2011 events included an Amateur Photography Contest which was open to all DOI employees. The contestants were required to be non-professional photographers and all photos had to be the original work of the contestant. The following categories were available: Diversity, People, Countries, Food, Sports, and Nature. Only two photos from two of the nine categories were allowed by each contestant. All of the entries were very creative and uniquely portrayed the various cultural representations we have throughout the department. With over 300 entries, the amateur photo contest proved to be a popular and fun event shared by all employees.

The DOI Multicultural Day 2011 Amateur Photography Contest winners are: Judith Zuckert, BLM – Category Diversity; Molly Haarhoff, BLM – Category People; Janet Agin, BIA – Category Food; Erik Bruhnke, USGS – Category Nature; Dan Stevenson, NPS – Category Sports, and Teresa Campbell, USFWS – Category Countries. The winners and their photographs were acknowledged at the DOI Multi-Cultural Day Program on September 8, 2011.
