Enhancing Resilience Using Coastal Green Infrastructure

Dates
-
Location
Rachel Carson Room (Basement Cafeteria of the Main Interior Building)
Description

Coastal green infrastructure (CGI) plays an important role in making coastal communities more resilient to natural hazards. For example, tidal marshes reduce wave energy during storms and in doing so, reduce shoreline erosion and protect lives and property. The National Science and Technology Council’s Ecosystem-Service Assessment: Research Needs for Coastal Green Infrastructure report recommended areas to prioritize Federal research to integrate CGI into risk reduction and into resilience planning and decision making. Implementing those recommendations is a collaborative process that requires Federal and non-Federal partnerships. Please join the Office of Policy Analysis on May 9 as the panelists discuss different perspectives on using coastal green infrastructure to enhance coastal resilience.
