RAPID CITY, SOUTH DAKOTA: Jhon Goes in Center will present a lecture, Plains Indian Silverwork, at the Journey Museum on Friday, November 3, 2023, at 12:00 PM.

Jhon Goes in Center (Oglala Lakota) was born in 1949 along Rapid Creek in Rapid City, South Dakota.  He is considered one of the early silversmiths foundational to the development of the modern era of Lakota metalwork.  In this presentation, Jhon will share historical photographs of Native American silverwork and explore the development of silverwork for personal adornment among Northern and Southern Plains artists from the 19th century to the present.

The presentation is in conjunction with the Journey Museum’s Turtle Soup Lecture Series.  More information can be found at www.journeymuseum.org/education/turtle-soup/
