Description

The Interior Museum returns as a co-presenter for the 32nd edition of the Environmental Film Festival in the Nation's Capital, the world's largest green film festival. Featured is a public screening of Giants Rising (U.S., 2023, 81 minutes). Revealing the secrets and saga of America’s most iconic trees, Giants Rising tells the epic tale of the redwoods. The tallest and some of the oldest living beings on Earth, these trees are living links to the past. But they also hold powers that could impact our future. Through the voices of scientists, artists, Native people and others, the film reveals the wonder and plight of these awe-inspiring forests, offering insights that could help sustain us all. Following the screening will be a half-hour facilitated conversation with film director/producer Lisa Landers and several of the people seen in the film, including visual artist Sarah Bird, Yurok Tribal Historic Preservation Officer Rosie Clayburn, and redwoods geneticist Zane Moore, Ph.D.

An American Sign Language interpreter will accompany the spoken program, and the film will be shown with captions.
