Temporary Special Action Request WSA20-01, submitted by William Amberg of Copper Center, requests a continuous caribou season in Unit 13 from Aug. 1 – Mar. 31 and that the caribou harvest limit in Unit 13 remainder be changed to two caribou for the 2020/21 and 2021/22 seasons.

Temporary Special Action request WSA20-02, submitted by the Ahtna Intertribal Resource Commission (AITRC), requests the development of an AITRC-administered community harvest system for moose and caribou in Units 11, 12, and 13 for the eight Ahtna tribal communities for the 2020/21 regulatory year.  Given the Board’s recent action on Wildlife Proposal WP18-19, only the Unit 12 requests were considered in the analysis for this special action request.

Temporary Special Action Request WSA20-03, submitted by Kirk Wilson of Glennallen, requests that the Federal Subsistence Board (Board) close Federal public lands in Unit 13 to the hunting of moose and caribou by non-Federally qualified users for the 2020/2021 season.

Temporary Wildlife Special Action Request WSA20-04, submitted by Togiak National Wildlife Refuge (NWR) and Yukon Delta NWR, requests that the Federal in-season manager be delegated authority to open and close seasons, announce harvest limits, and set sex restrictions for caribou in all or portions of Units 9A, 9B, 9C, 17A, 17B, 17C, 18, 19A, and 19B for the 2020-2022 regulatory cycle.

Emergency Wildlife Special Request WSA20-05, submitted by the Yukon Delta National Wildlife Refuge, requests that the fall moose season in the Kuskokwim hunt area of Unit 18 be extended from Sept. 1 – 30 to Sept. 1 – Oct. 7 for the 2020/21 regulatory year.

Public hearings and Tribal consultations were held for the four temporary wildlife special action requests in May 2020.
