Federal Subsistence Board to hold summer work session, July 17-18, 2017

The Federal Subsistence Board (Board) will hold a summer work session July 17-18, 2017.  On July 17, beginning at 8:30 a.m., the Board will meet at the BP Energy Center, 900 E. Benson Boulevard, in Anchorage.

During the July 17 meeting, the Board will discuss and take action on Regional Advisory Council Fiscal Year 2016 Annual Report Replies and revisions to United States and Canada border river delegated authority letters to in-season managers that would allow subsistence fishing closures for treaty obligations. Additionally, during a closed executive session, the Board will discuss the Regional Advisory Council nominations and develop recommendations to the Secretaries of the Interior and Agriculture for their appointments. Other business items may be discussed by the Board during the work session. Throughout the meeting, there may be opportunities for the public to testify on agenda and non-agenda items. On July 18, the Board will visit the Kenai River community gillnet fishery to network with fishers and managers on the river.

The public is encouraged to participate in the July 17 portion of the Board’s work session either in person or by teleconference.
