2019 Yukon River Summer Salmon Fishery News Release #28 Districts 1 and 2 Commercial Fishing Schedule

Districts Affected: Lower Yukon Area

With passage at Pilot Station sonar of over 1,000,000 summer chum salmon, a commercial surplus is available for harvest. Fishermen must confirm they have a buyer and should check on tender locations prior to fishing.

Chinook salmon may not be sold. All Chinook salmon retained for subsistence must be recorded on a fish ticket.

District 1 Commercial:

Commercial fishing will open for two periods with 6-inch or smaller mesh gillnets:

District 2 Commercial:

Commercial fishing will open for one period with 6-inch or smaller mesh gillnets:

  • A 6-hour period from 6 p.m. to midnight Sunday, July 7

As a reminder, the Andreafsky River is closed to commercial fishing and fishermen should be mindful not to target summer chum salmon headed into the Andreafsky River to spawn.
