2018 Yukon River Summer Salmon Fishery News Release # 10 District 1 Commercial Fishing Schedule

Districts Affected: Lower Yukon Area

This news release announces two commercial fishing periods in District 1 with selective gear. Catches of summer chum salmon may be low until the run builds in the lower river. All Chinook salmon caught in dip net and beach seine gear must be released alive immediately and recorded on a fish ticket. Dip nets are not allowed during subsistence gillnet openings.

District 1 (including Black River) Commercial:

Commercial fishing will be open for the following two periods with dip nets and beach seines:

  • A 12-hour period from noon to midnight Wednesday, June 13
  • A 24-hour period from noon Thursday, June 14 until noon Friday, June 15

All Chinook salmon must be released alive immediately and recorded on a fish ticket.

District 1 (including Black River and North Coastal District) Subsistence:

Subsistence fishing with 7.5-inch or smaller mesh gillnets is on a reduced regulatory schedule of two 18-hour periods per week, from:

  • 2 p.m. Tuesdays until 8 a.m. Wednesdays
  • 2 p.m. Fridays until 8 a.m. Saturdays
