2018 Yukon River Salmon Fishery News Release # 37 - District 3 Subsistence Fishing Schedule

Districts Affected: Lower Yukon Area

An additional reduced fishing period is being announced in District 3, afterwards, subsistence periods will return to the regulatory schedule as the Chinook run is projected to be more than 90% complete in the district.

Subsistence Management Actions:

District 3:

Subsistence fishing is currently open from 2 p.m. Thursday, July 5 to 8 a.m. Friday, July 6 with 6-inch or smaller mesh gillnets.

Effective 2 p.m. Monday, July 9, subsistence fishing will open for one 18-hour period with 7.5 inch or smaller mesh gillnets

  • 2 p.m. Monday, July 9 to 8 a.m. Tuesday, July 10

Effective 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 11, subsistence fishing will be on the regulatory schedule of two 36-hour periods per week with 7.5-inch or smaller mesh gillnets

8 p.m. Wednesdays to 8 a.m. Fridays

8 p.m. Sunday to 8 a.m. Tuesdays

During subsistence salmon fishing closures, only gillnets with 4-inch or smaller mesh may be used to target non-salmon species.
