CFCNCA Halloween Tailgate Lunch

The Witch Wins!

There were wizards, a witch, pirate, vampire and superhero among others at the Department of the Interior's sell out spooky CFC Halloween tailgate lunch sponsored by the National Park Service on Friday, October 28. Professors Minerva McGonagall and Albus Dumbledore from Harry Potter dropped in along with Captain America, the Cat in the Hat, “Sue Sylvester” from “Glee”, a Redskin football player, a Victorian vampire, more than one Little Red Riding Hood and the lumberjack, and there was a doctor in the house.

The competition was tough for the best costume, but judges Deanna Archuleta, Senior Advisor to the Secretary for Historical and Cultural Preservation and Vice Chair of Interior's 2011 CFC for the National Capital Area, and Pam Haze, Deputy Assistant Secretary – Budget, Finance, Performance and Acquisition, picked the three lucky winners after serious deliberation. First place went to Kim Thorsen as a witch, second place to Polly Hanson as “Sue Sylvester” from the television show “Glee,” and third place to Jackie Corona as a very convincing doctor. All three are from the Office of the Deputy Assistant Secretary – Law Enforcement, Security, and Emergency Management.

Sponsored by the National Park Service in conjunction with Interior's Bison Bistro, the pulled pork and fried chicken wings sold out as did the homemade spider cupcakes and other baked Halloween goodies. The National Business Center provided the frightful Halloween background music and other assorted spooky sounds. In addition to a good time and good food, the event raised over $900 for the CFC of National Capital Area charities.
