From:  Elizabeth Klein, Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary - Policy, Management and Budget

Thank you to everyone who completed the FY 2016 Employee Commuter Survey. Because of your efforts, the survey response rate increased to 34.4 percent this year.

I am proud to announce that the Department’s FY 2016 greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from employee commuting were 31 percent lower than they were in FY 2010. Through your work to encourage and facilitate active commuting, telework and the use of mass transit, per employee GHG emissions have also decreased 23 percent since FY 2010. A summary of this year’s survey results, the final survey response rates, and a list of links to the final commuter survey reports for each bureau and office are available at: https://www.doi.gov/sites/doi.gov/files/uploads/fy2016_commutersurvey_bureauresults_1.pdf.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your efforts to reduce the Department of the Interior’s (Department) overall greenhouse gas emissions. If you have any questions about the Department’s GHG reduction program, please feel free to contact Ms. Katie Chiang in the Office of Environmental Policy and Compliance at Kathleen_Chiang@ios.doi.gov, or 202-208-5939.
