All Telework-Eligible Employees in the National Capital Region Directed to Telework Until Further Notice

Colleagues,

In accordance with the attached OPM guidance regarding operations in the National Capital Region (NCR), all DOI employees with signed telework agreements in the NCR are directed to telework until further notice, unless their bureau or office director indicates that the DOI employee’s physical presence in the office is crucial to the bureau or office’s ability to perform mission-essential functions including but not limited to law enforcement, wildland fire preparedness and response, or operations of critical infrastructure.

Employees who do not have a telework agreement in place should coordinate with their supervisor regarding their telework status. For non-telework eligible employees, supervisors are directed to employ staggered work schedules, social distancing, and other operational mitigation measures as suggested by the CDC in order to safely deliver mission-essential functions.

We will continue to update employees with new guidance as it is received. Employees should reference the DOI Sharepoint site for all other guidance documents related to the impact of the coronavirus (COVID-19).

Sincerely,

Katharine MacGregor
Deputy Secretary
