2019 Semiannual Report to Congress

Interior Team,

One of the responsibilities of the Office of Inspector General (OIG) is to summarize its work every 6 months in a report to Congress. Here is the link to the October 2019 Semiannual Report to Congress issued by the OIG.

The report linked here presents the work conducted by the OIG in the past 6 months, as well as statistical information about the scope and findings of that work. If, after reading this report, you have comments to share with the OIG, please do so at OIG_communication@doioig.gov.

In my September 25, 2019 message to employees welcoming Mark Greenblatt as Inspector General, I stated that the OIG serves a vital role in identifying waste, inefficiencies, and misconduct, as well as providing the Department’s leadership with timely and actionable information. The Principles of Ethical Conduct of Government Employees includes an obligation to disclose waste, fraud, abuse, and corruption to appropriate authorities, which includes the OIG. Accordingly, if you have concerns the Department and its programs or operations, you may report those concerns through the OIG Hotline.

Thank you,
Secretary David Bernhardt
