Memo (2023): Schedule A Hiring Authority – 2023 Hawaii Fires

The U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM) has authorized the use of excepted service
appointments under 5 CFR 213.3102(i)(3) to address the recovery efforts for the 2023 fires
affecting Hawaii. Appointments may be made on a temporary basis, not-to-exceed one year from
the date of appointment, for individuals who will be directly involved with the recovery and
relief efforts associated with the fires in Maui and Hawaii counties. These appointments may be
extended for one additional year, for a maximum duration of two years.
