Hi, I'm Ryan Zinke, Secretary of the Interior.
Almost 250 years ago today America declared her independence from the British.
Now, every Fourth of July, Americans come together and celebrate their freedoms that our founding fathers envisioned so long ago.
We also come together to celebrate our modern patriots who serve in the armed forces, and thank you for your service.
This holiday week, millions of Americans and families will celebrate by camping, hiking, fishing, and enjoying our great public lands. What better way to celebrate America, than experiencing the great outdoors. I join those families in thanking our dedicated employees of the Department of the Interior for working hard to make sure campsites, restrooms, trails and other public lands services are open and ready for business.
Last but not least, I encourage all Americans to keep our deployed military members and first responders in their hearts and prayers. While we’re out enjoying a BBQ with our loved ones, these selfless individuals are on duty to keep us safe.
Happy Independence Day. May God bless America, and may God bless the men and women who defend her.
On the Fourth of July Americans celebrate the freedoms envisioned by the Founding Fathers in 1776, the same freedoms defended today by the men and women who serve in uniform. This holiday week, millions of Americans and families will go camping, hiking, fishing, enjoying our great public lands. What better way to celebrate America, than experiencing the great outdoors? Happy Independence Day!
