Hi, I'm Secretary of the Interior Ryan Zinke.
As we head into Independence Day this weekend, we’ll mark the two-hundred and forty-first anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence.
Today we mark Independence Day by celebrating with our friends and families. Many of you may also visit our National Parks and seashores to experience America's magnificent public lands.
This Independence weekend, I invite you to take a few minutes to reflect on why it is possible that we celebrate on this Independence Day.
On the 4th of July we celebrate, not just our liberty, but also the men and women who have fought to protect that liberty since the early days of the Revolution
At Interior it's our privilege to preserve so many of the places where we honor American heroes.
National battlefields like Gettysburg, war memorials like Midway Island, and historic sites like Moton Field Alabama which is the home of the fabled WWII Tuskegee Airmen.
You know it’s been more than two centuries since the signing of the Declaration in Philadelphia, and it’s time for all of us to celebrate the courage and vision of our founding fathers and the men and women of the Armed Forces who defended that vision.
This weekend I invite you to visit our national treasures and reflect on why America is great.
From all of us here at Interior, best wishes for a happy and safe Fourth of July!
May God bless America, and may God bless the men and women who defend her.
On the 241st anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776, Secretary Ryan Zinke invites all Americans to enjoy the beauty of the nation's public lands and historic sites this weekend, to reflect on the blessings of liberty, and thank the men and women of the armed forces who help protect it.
