Estimates by the organizers of the National Cherry Blossom Festival are that as many as a million and a half people visit the Tidal Basin during the National Cherry Blossom Festival

The emergence of the cherry blossoms every spring is one of Washington’s grandest traditions. And there for the last week or so we had some very real concerns about whether there would be a peak bloom season this year. Knowing that there will be a peak bloom around the Tidal Basin is a great relief to all of us, not only at the National Park Service, but throughout Washington DC

Good news about Washington DC's world famous cherry blossoms! After enduring late-season cold and snow, the blossoms should hit peak bloom sometime in the week of March 20-27. Find out more at nps.gov/cherry
