On Tuesday and Wednesday, June 12 and 13, 2007, Secretary of the Interior Dirk Kempthorne will meet with leaders of the Republic of the Marshall Islands, community and civic groups during his official visit to Majuro, the capital of the Marshall Islands.
Kempthorne will confer with Marshalls’ President Kessai Note, leaders of the Marshalls’ Nitijela (Legislature) and members of the President’s cabinet. The Secretary also will meet with representatives of the nuclear-affected atolls and speak to the Majuro Chamber of Commerce. In addition, Kempthorne will meet with U.S. Ambassador Clyde Bishop,
receive a briefing and tour of Department of Defense facilities on Kwajalein Island, and visit the Marshallese community and hospital on Ebeye Island.
