WASHINGTON, D.C. – Secretary of the Interior Dirk Kempthorne and Minister of Environment of the Republic of Georgia David Tkeshelashvili will participate in a signing ceremony on Tuesday, May 22, to formalize a partnership on developing a national park system in Georgia.
The Department of the Interior’s International Technical Assistance Program has provided technical assistance on the project in Georgia since 1999 with $850,000 in funding from the U.S. Agency for International Development. This meeting will kick-off a one-week study tour for the Georgian officials including visits to Yosemite National Park and Point Reyes National Seashore in California.
