Secretary of the Interior Dirk Kempthorne will be joined by more than 50 Department of the Interior employees on Wednesday, April 18 to volunteer in the Capital River Relief project, a large-scale clean up of the Potomac and Anacostia Rivers.
After making opening remarks regarding the direct impact volunteerism is making in habitats and urban green spaces, Secretary Kempthorne will board a river barge with volunteers to be shuttled to the clean up site.
The Capital River Relief project is an annual event sponsored in part by Take Pride in America® and made possible by Living Lands and Waters, an environmental organization that provides river barges, guides and years of experience in shoreline cleanup.
