OFAS provides professional moving services for bureaus and offices that occupy the Stewart Lee Udall Department of the Interior (DOI) Building, and the DOI South Interior Building.  OFAS also provides limited moving services for DOI offices located in the surrounding Washington D.C., Metropolitan Area, evaluated on a case-by-case basis.  The following outlines basic services provided by this office:

  • Office relocations, rearrange offices, remove surplus furniture and equipment;
  • Provide packing crates and materials (limited stock);
  • Remove and surplus computer and electronic equipment for recycling (Must have all computer disposal paperwork completed) by UNICOR; and
  • Deliver surplus and coordinate furniture pick-ups to and from the General Services Administration (GSA) and DOI warehouses.

Work is performed using in-house OFAS staff and/or contractors, and is contingent upon the assessment of each client office request.  OFAS also maintains a Blanket Purchase Agreement (BPA) for contract moving services, mostly used for large and/or complex requests.

NOTE:  Before a client office goes to GSA to pick out furniture, you must contact OFAS Moving Services first to ensure we can schedule the pick-up within GSA’s set 3-day window.  GSA will not hold the furniture longer.

Costs

There are no charges associated with moves performed by OFAS Moving Services during normal business hours.  Special requests, and/or work performed after normal business hours will require reimbursement by the bureau or office requesting the service.

Move requests that are large, or have a short turn-around timeframe may require support by our BPA moving contractor.  OFAS can help make necessary arrangements to secure a contractor estimate and schedule the work, but the requesting bureau or office is responsible for the payment of the contract moving service and coordinating the work performed by the contractor.

Contractor pricing may vary depending on the following factors:

  • Number of moving crates
  • Number of laborers, truck driver(s) and supervisor(s)
  • System furniture assemble or disassemble
  • Debris removal
  • Heavy or special items like large filing systems or safes

Payment Methods

An authorized official must commit funds prior to starting overtime, or BPA contractor work.  The following payments are accepted:

  • Credit card; or
  • Interagency Agreement to OFAS
